Construction Timeline

Kwasen Village will unfold over seven carefully sequenced phases, with full completion anticipated by summer 2030. This phased approach ensures each layer of the community—residential, commercial, cultural, and public realm—is thoughtfully delivered and fully integrated. This timeline is subject to change.

Phase One (2025) will introduce the first residential buildings, including Tower One, a 20-storey leasehold strata high-rise, alongside a 6-storey non-market apartment and a 14-storey mixed-rental building. Select public realm features, such as trails and community gathering spaces, will also take shape in this phase, setting the foundation for the village’s urban identity.

In Phase Two (2026), additional strata and/or rental towers will be added, complemented by key commercial retail along the main corridors. Trail systems and landscaped pathways will be extended, enhancing connectivity across the site.

Phase Three (2027) will focus on the development of the expansive media and production studio campus, comprising over 450,000 square feet. At the same time, an expanded daycare facility and broader community-use spaces will open, alongside a second wave of retail and outdoor amenities.

Phase Four (2028) will deliver more residential towers, including mid-rise, family-oriented housing. This phase will also mark the arrival of cultural landmarks, including the cultural centre and two large storytelling parks rooted in Indigenous design.

In Phase Five (2028), the project’s iconic landmark towers—ranging from 22 to 25 storeys—will rise, contributing to Burnaby’s evolving skyline. Transit routes, roadways, and supporting mobility infrastructure within the village will also be completed or expanded.

Phase Six (2029) will concentrate on building out the remaining commercial and service amenities. Enhanced bike lanes, pedestrian corridors, and urban crossings (including over the on-site creek) will finalize the core of the village’s mobility strategy.

Finally, Phase Seven in 2030 will deliver the last residential tower, alongside final touches to the landscaping, plazas, and shared public amenities. With this, the entire community will be fully activated—marking the completion of one of Metro Vancouver’s most significant and culturally meaningful developments.
