Three Reasons Why Buying Near a SkyTrain Station is a Smart Move

1. Convenience

As we move towards a greener future, owning a car is becoming less and less necessary. We are seeing more and more people trade in their high insurance costs and lease payments for car share and a TransLink Pass. For those who are willing to give up their car, the trade-off is usually that they want to be in close vicinity to the SkyTrain Station.

2. Resale & Rental Rates

Homes, Condos, and Presale Condos that are close to the SkyTrain station rent for more and sell for more, and rent quicker and sell quicker.

3. Supply vs. Demand

SkyTrain-Friendly Real Estate holds its value. As prices continue to increase, SkyTrain hubs become more and more desirable, and as demand builds, prices rise. Securing a piece of Real Estate in close walking distance to the SkyTrain station is a great way to mitigate risk in fluctuating markets.

SURREY SKYTRAIN CONDOS

History of the City

1800’s

Langley was among the first places in British Columbia that European settlers arrived. The Colony of British Columbia was incorporated in 1858 at Fort Langley. Formerly an HBC (Hudson’s Bay Company) post from 1827 that has been now restored. Langley was not incorporated as a district municipality until 1873. Since then, the Township of Langley has divided into several urban areas. These areas include; Aldergrove, Brookswood, Fort Langley, Murrayville, Walnut Grove, and Willoughby.

1900’s

The 20th century brought advancement to Langley. Transportation changed the rural area to a much more urban and commercial core. The BC Electric Railway was added in 1910 making it easier to communicate with other districts. In 1920 the Fraser highway made major road improvements and in 1937 the Pattullo Bridge opened an exceptional crossing to the Vancouver area. Unfortunately even with so many steps forward there were many natural and artificial barriers that prevented Langley from following a tidy grid.

With so much progress being made, the township made some difficult decisions in order to accommodate the economic boom in the area. The top priorities were safety, infrastructure, and health. In order to make the city safer, street lights were added throughout several major routes. Finally in 1955 the City of Langley became a separate municipality and if often referred to as “Langley City” up to this day. The City of Langley is surrounded by the township, but politically are considered a separate entity.

In addition to all the steps taken to better the conditions for residents, the arrival of the Trans-Canada Highway happened in the 1960’s. The Fraser Highway was part of this network until 1964. Therefore, the creation of this route attracted many businesses as they were all keen to be located on this new route. The downtown core of Langley which was located on Old Yale Road, now named Fraser Highway. The economy was largely based on agriculture with Langley city as the trade and service center. This remains to the present day.

Present Day

The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Line Extension is currently underway as they work to bring the convenience of rapid transit to this noteworthy neighborhood. This will improve thousands of residents commute time, as well as bring more LANGLEY SKYTRAIN CONDOS to the area. Moreover, Langley is home to many Translink bus routes as well as six community shuttle routes. As a result accessibility will only improve in the coming years with all the new developments that are currently in the works.

Along with that, there are many shopping districts in the surrounding areas offering a bit of everything to its residents. Meanwhile the downtown core has been changed into single lane traffic and designed to be more pedestrian friendly do you do not need to bring a vehicle to go to your favorite shops anymore.

Langley is also filled with entertainment options. Beginning with a vast amount of dining options, rest assured even the pickiest eater will find a place they love here. On the other hand there are several cinema’s and theatres in the city to appreciate. The Langley Ukulele Ensemble is also know for their amazing performances.

For the automobile enthusiast, every year Langley hosts the infamous “Langley Cruise-in.’ This is an annual car show that brings huge crowds as people throughout the province drive in to showcase their vehicles they have worked so hard to improve and preserve over the years.

For a more kid-friendly adventure, the Greater Vancouver Zoo is located in the community of Aldergrove.

Outdoors

With over 17 parks in the city, the outdoor space is plentiful. The parks throughout the area range from small neighborhood parks to large parks with nature trails, wildlife, and various sporting fields and equipment. If you are searching for a pet-friendly option, there are many off leash dog parks around such as Uplands Off Leash Dog park.

Langley Township was nicknamed the “Horse Capital” of BC. They earned this title by housing large equestrian facilities, Thunderbird Show Park, and the area contains breeding and training facilities for horses. Overall, Langley is an exciting place to be one with nature, and to experience animals up close.

Culture

Starting with the Langley Art’s Alive Festival, this city offers inclusive cultural experience to their residents. They provide museums that focus on Native History, Agriculture, Aviation, and Communication. The city is built on these fundamentals. Fort Langley is also a historic site and still stands today. SURREY SKYTRAIN CONDOS

History of the City

1800’s

Surrey was originally inhabited by the Kwantlen and Semiahmoo people for over 6000 years. Villages had been established at various points of the Fraser and Campbell River, as well as Crescent Beach. The area was rich with agriculture, and the villages mainly survived on Hunting and Fishing. They also had the added benefit of Tidal and Shoreline resources to supplement any essentials they may have needed. Using the waterways of the Campbell, Nicomeki, and Serpentine River kept the First Nations connected to the outside communities for trade and communication. This created a practical way to survive and keep kinship between people.

In the late 1800’s the area began to see newcomers. Surrey was incorporated as a municipality in 1879 and by 1880 approximately 200 people had moved to the area. At this point, logging began and by clearing areas for small farming communities the economy continued to grow.

1900’s

In the 1900’s focus changed from trades by waterway, to communication and connections becoming faster and more efficient. In 1904 the first double span bridge was built connecting Surrey to Vancouver and New West. At the time, this was the only path available by foot to cross. After that the Pattullo bridge was built in 1937. Following this, the incorporated municipality continued to expand and roads and railways were popping up all over creating more and more growth. Then, in 1960, the Port Mann Bridge was built making Surrey’s accessibility the best it had ever been.

Finally, over one hundred years after bring incorporated, Surrey officially became a City in 1993. As it remains to this day, Surrey brings together a wide variety of ethnicities. This creates unique opportunity for residents and brings great cultural advantages. Once Surrey became a city, it was divided into six town centers; North Surrey, Newton, Fleetwood, Guildford, Cloverdale, and South Surrey. Expected to surpass Vancouver for the largest city in British Columbia in the near future, Surrey continues to evolve and influence with its expansive resources. Above All, in 1990 the SkyTrain made it across the Fraser River and into Surrey. Currently, Surrey has and impressive four SkyTrain lines running through it making it one of the best places for SURREY SKYTRAIN CONDOS.
